DESCRIPTION:The Championships consist of two of our annual events run on consecutive days for the first time\, give you an entire weekend of quizzing action all in one place. \n\n\n\nOn Saturday 17th we’ll be holding our Interprovincial Quiz Tournament\, a team competition first held in 2019 and now making a welcome post-Covid return. This day-long tournament pits Ulster vs Connacht vs Munster vs Leinster in a 4-way quiz showdown! \n\n\n\nEntrants can compete for the province of their birth\, the province where they live\, or any province that they have a connection to. \n\n\n\nThen on Sunday 18th we’ll be hosting the 8th annual Irish Open\, an individual quiz event that over the course of 240 questions seeks to find the best quizzer in Ireland! \n\n\n\nBoth events are open to all\, whether newcomers or quiz veterans\, and players are welcome to attend 1 day or both as they wish. \n\n\n\nThe entry fee will be as follows: \n\n\n\nOne day only: €10 per personBoth days: €15 per person\n\n\n\nIf you are planning to attend\, please RSVP using the following form: https://forms.gle/MzyctV7we7xcHvBu8 \n\n\n\nFor timetable and other event details\, see our official announcement.

After approx 750 metres\, look out for a small signpost on the left hand side of the road for “Terenure Badminton Centre” and turn left into the laneway \n\n\n\n.BY CAR FROM M50:Take exit 11 (Tallaght) and head north towards Templeogue / city centre. At the first roundabout (Spawell) turn left. Keep driving straight for approx 1.5km\, through 2 roundabouts. After the 2nd roundabout you’ll see a row of shops on your right\, including The Pines pub. About 300 metres after this\, look out for a small signpost on the right-hand side of the road for “Terenure Badminton Centre” and turn right into the laneway. \n\n\n\nBY BUS:Take the 15A from city centre southwards (to Limekiln Ave). Stay on the bus through Rathmines\, Rathgar and Terenure village. After this\, the bus will travel straight through the KCR crossroads before turning left onto Whitehall Road. Get off at the 4th stop on this road\, called Kimmage Manor Way (stop 1094). Look for a small signpost saying “Terenure Badminton Centre” just after the bus stop (on the same side of the road) and walk down the laneway.

Only the national team matches are restricted to the teams selected by each country. \n\n\n\nENTRY FEE & REGISTRATION \n\n\n\nThe entry fee is €20 per person for all participants. \n\n\n\nIt is not necessary to pay in advance\, but if you are planning to be there\, please RSVP via our online registration form. We will use the email addresses provided to communicate with attendees.  \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nVENUE \n\n\n\nThe quiz venue is the Carnegie Court Hotel in Swords\, Co. Dublin www.carnegiecourthotel.com \n\n\n\nThe hotel is approx. 20 minutes from Dublin Airport by bus (number 41) or 10-12 minutes by taxi (approx. €15). It is a 5-minute walk from Swords Pavilions Shopping Centre and has a selection of pubs\, shops\, and restaurants nearby. The panel will use the Irish quiz rankings (available on quizireland.ie) as a key indicator of who should compete on each team\, but it will also have the freedom to include quizzers not on the rankings (or who haven’t completed enough events to reach an appropriate ranking)\, rotate players among teams\, match up quizzers based on strengths and weaknesses\, and so on. \n\n\n\nWithin reason\, the panel will endeavour to give most (if not all) Irish quizzers who travel to the event a place on a team at some stage\, but it must balance this with the need to field strong competitive Irish teams\, so it’s not guaranteed that all Irish quizzers will get onto a team. However of course\, the Celtic Nations features a number of individual\, pairs\, and fun quiz events in which everyone can take part.
