DESCRIPTION:We recommend pre-registering by Jan 19th at https://quizcentral.net/oqllive/ – however walk-ins will be allowable on the day\, up to the capacity of the venue. \n\n\n\nAs a special offer\, this first event of the year will cost only €1 (normally €13) So a whole day of quizzing for just a quid! No need to pre-pay when you register\, you can simply bring a euro with you on the day. \n\n\n\nPreviously known as the OQL Individual Championships\, the OQL Live VIII is a series of 8 quizzes taking place throughout 2025. Each event is an individual written quiz where hundreds of players across venues in the UK and Ireland sit the same 240 questions at the same time with 30 questions in each of the standard OQL categories. The OQL crowns winners in each category as well as an overall top 10. This event will also include fun team quizzes and buzzer quizzes at each of the venues. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE EVENT \n\n\n\nThe rough timetable for the day is as follows: \n\n\n\n10.30am: Arrive and welcome11.00am-12.45pm: Individual quiz12.45pm-1.15pm: Marking1.15pm-2.00pm: Lunch2.00pm-3.45pm: Fun team quiz3.45pm-4.00pm: Break4.00pm-5.00pm: Informal buzzer quizzing \n\n\n\nIn the main Individual quiz event\, players will have 105 minutes to answer 240 questions. At the end of the day the OQL will crown an overall champion as well as their 8 category champions. The individual quiz will be followed by a fun team quiz with teams made up on the day. \n\n\n\nThe competition will consist of 30 questions in each of the standard 8 OQL categories: \n\n\n\nArt and Literature – this will include all culture as well as classical music/ballet \n\n\n\nTelevision and Film – This category will include TV and Film from all genres and eras. \n\n\n\nGeography – Much like OQL geography this round will include many social sciences as well as human and physical geography \n\n\n\nHistory – All history\, current events\, politics and a few other areas such as law. \n\n\n\nLifestyle – This is the general lifestyle category which covers things such as fashion\, celebs\, food and drink\, fitness\, alternative medicines and more. \n\n\n\nPop culture – This is where you’ll find pop music questions which will make up about 50% of this round\, the rest will be other forms of popular entertainment such as computer games\, board games\, podcasts\, radio\, anime\, comics and the like. \n\n\n\nScience – This will be a pure science round covering all areas of science\, nature and the universe. \n\n\n\nSport – Exactly what it says on the tin \n\n\n\nEach category will have a nearest the bull tie-breaker and there will be an overall tie-breaker as well.

DESCRIPTION:As per our recent announcement\, the Dublin Quiz League is coming back for its 9th season in early December. Ahead of the season kickoff\, we traditionally hold a free “open night” for new players and teams who haven’t played DQL before\, to come along and see how the League works. \n\n\n\nCome meet us upstairs on the middle floor of the Parnell Heritage Pub on Parnell Street on Monday 27th November from 7.30pm onwards. (The venue is fully wheelchair accessible and has a lift) \n\n\n\nFrom about 8-9pm we’ll explain the rules and play a practice game so people can “try before they buy”. DESCRIPTION:The Irish Quiz Organisation are delighted to announce the third edition of the Irish Quizzing Championships quiz weekend. \n\n\n\nVENUE: The Teachers’ Club (Club na Múinteoirí)\, 36 Parnell Square West\, Dublin D01 T6V6DATES: Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September 2024 \n\n\n\nThe Championships consist of two of our biggest annual events run on consecutive days: The Irish Open individual quiz and the Irish Interprovincials team quiz. Plus\, once again the weekend will incorporate the latest edition of the OQL Individual Championships (now known as “OQL Live VIII”). \n\n\n\nIMPORTANT: Quizzers planning to attend must RSVP by MONDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER using this form: https://forms.gle/MzyctV7we7xcHvBu8 \n\n\n\nFull event details:\n\n\n\nDuring the weekend\, on Saturday we’ll be holding our Irish Interprovincials quiz tournament\, an annual team competition first held in 2019. This day-long tournament pits Ulster vs Connacht vs Munster vs Leinster in a 4-way quiz showdown!Entrants can compete for the province of their birth\, the province where they live\, or any province that they have a connection to. \n\n\n\nAlso on Saturday\, we will be running the September edition of OQL Live VIII – a popular individual quiz set by the UK-based Online Quiz League. The individual quiz will be followed by a fun team quiz with teams made up on the day. \n\n\n\nThe competition will consist of 30 questions in each of the standard 8 OQL categories: \n\n\n\nArt and Literature – this will include all culture as well as classical music/ballet \n\n\n\nTelevision and Film – This category will include TV and Film from all genres and eras. \n\n\n\nGeography – Much like OQL geography this round will include many social sciences as well as human and physical geography \n\n\n\nHistory – All history\, current events\, politics and a few other areas such as law. \n\n\n\nLifestyle – This is the general lifestyle category which covers things such as fashion\, celebs\, food and drink\, fitness\, alternative medicines and more. \n\n\n\nOther pop culture – This is where you’ll find pop music questions which will make up about 50% of this round\, the rest will be other forms of popular entertainment such as computer games\, board games\, podcasts\, radio\, anime\, comics and the like. \n\n\n\nScience – This will be a pure science round covering all areas of science\, nature and the universe. \n\n\n\nSport – Exactly what it says on the tin \n\n\n\nEach category will have a nearest the bull tie-breaker and there will be an overall tie-breaker as well.
