Please RSVP by emailing league@quizireland.ie and you can pay the €13 entrance fee by cash or Revolut on the day. \n\n\n\nPreviously known as the OQL Individual Championships\, the OQL Live VIII is a series of 8 quizzes taking place throughout 2024. Each event is an individual written quiz where hundreds of players across venues in the UK and Ireland sit the same 240 questions at the same time with 30 questions in each of the standard OQL categories. The OQL crowns winners in each category as well as an overall top 10. This event will also include fun team quizzes and buzzer quizzes at each of the venues. \n\n\n\nABOUT THE EVENT \n\n\n\nThe rough timetable for the day is as follows: \n\n\n\n10.30am: Arrive and welcome11.00am-12.45pm: Individual quiz12.45pm-1.15pm: Marking1.15pm-2.00pm: Lunch2.00pm-3.45pm: Fun team quiz3.45pm-4.00pm: Break4.00pm-5.00pm: Informal buzzer quizzing \n\n\n\nIn the main Individual quiz event\, players will have 105 minutes to answer 240 questions. At the end of the day the OQL will crown an overall champion as well as their 8 category champions. The individual quiz will be followed by a fun team quiz with teams made up on the day. \n\n\n\nThe competition will consist of 30 questions in each of the standard 8 OQL categories: \n\n\n\nArt and Literature – this will include all culture as well as classical music/ballet \n\n\n\nTelevision and Film – This category will include TV and Film from all genres and eras. \n\n\n\nGeography – Much like OQL geography this round will include many social sciences as well as human and physical geography \n\n\n\nHistory – All history\, current events\, politics and a few other areas such as law. \n\n\n\nLifestyle – This is the general lifestyle category which covers things such as fashion\, celebs\, food and drink\, fitness\, alternative medicines and more. \n\n\n\nPop culture – This is where you’ll find pop music questions which will make up about 50% of this round\, the rest will be other forms of popular entertainment such as computer games\, board games\, podcasts\, radio\, anime\, comics and the like. \n\n\n\nScience – This will be a pure science round covering all areas of science\, nature and the universe. \n\n\n\nSport – Exactly what it says on the tin \n\n\n\nEach category will have a nearest the bull tie-breaker and there will be an overall tie-breaker as well.

After approx 750 metres\, look out for a small signpost on the left hand side of the road for “Terenure Badminton Centre” and turn left into the laneway. \n\n\n\nBY CAR FROM M50:Take exit 11 (Tallaght) and head north towards Templeogue / city centre. At the first roundabout (Spawell) turn left. Keep driving straight for approx 1.5km\, through 2 roundabouts. After the 2nd roundabout you’ll see a row of shops on your right\, including The Pines pub. About 300 metres after this\, look out for a small signpost on the right-hand side of the road for “Terenure Badminton Centre” and turn right into the laneway. \n\n\n\nBY BUS:Take the 15A from city centre southwards (to Limekiln Ave). Stay on the bus through Rathmines\, Rathgar and Terenure village. After this\, the bus will travel straight through the KCR crossroads before turning left onto Whitehall Road. Get off at the 4th stop on this road\, called Kimmage Manor Way (stop 1094). Look for a small signpost saying “Terenure Badminton Centre” just after the bus stop (on the same side of the road) and walk down the laneway

You can pay £11 for one event or avail of discounts for signing up to multiple events. DESCRIPTION:We’re back for the third month of holding the Hot 100 and Squizzed in person in Dublin city centre. All quizzers old and new are welcome. \n\n\n\nLike previous months\, we will gather from 7pm upstairs in Ryan’s Café and Bar\, Store Street\, Dublin 1 (near Busáras). \n\n\n\nThe evening will consist of the Hot 100 and Squizzed individual written quizzes held one after the other\, with a short break in between. We also plan to round off the night with some informal chat or fun quizzing (numbers permitting). \n\n\n\nHere’s the full schedule for the evening: \n\n\n\nTIMETABLE\n\n\n\n7.00pm Pre-quiz drinks7.30pm Hot 100 (incl. correcting)8.30pm Short break8.45pm Squizzed (incl. correcting)9.45pm Informal quizzing / socialising \n\n\n\nThe cost is €10 for both Hot 100 & Squizzed\, or €5 if you want to do just one of them. You can pay on the night via either cash or Revolut. \n\n\n\nIf you’re on Facebook\, please RSVP to our Facebook event\, or if you’re not on Facebook\, please RSVP by emailing league (at) quizireland (dot) ie\, so we know how many copies of the questions to print. \n\n\n\nNote: for players not in Dublin or unavailable on Tuesday\, our usual play-at-home options will also be available & will be announced on Facebook as usual. \n\n\n\nABOUT SQUIZZED AND HOT 100\n\n\n\nBoth Squizzed and the Hot 100 are internationally-flavoured monthly individual written quizzes.The Hot 100 is set by the UK-based International Quiz Association and consists of 100 questions in 45 minutes.Squizzed is set in Croatia and consists of 101 questions in 50 minutes. \n\n\n\nThey are both individual quizzes\, so you don’t need a team. Scores for both quizzes will be fed into the Irish quiz rankings and they maintain their own rankings lists as well.
