After a few weeks of uncertainty when our previous venue proved unavailable due to building works, we’re delighted to finally confirm the new Dublin city centre venue for our upcoming Irish Quizzing Championships, our 2-day flagship event which is due to take place on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September.
Below are full details of the venue and the event – registration is now open, so we welcome quizzers from the four corners of Ireland to join us for a fun and challenging weekend of quizzing!
VENUE: The Teachers’ Club (Club na Múinteoirí), 36 Parnell Square West, Dublin D01 T6V6
DATES: Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th September 2024
The Championships consist of two of our biggest annual events run on consecutive days: The Irish Open individual quiz and the Irish Interprovincials team quiz. Plus, once again the weekend will incorporate the latest edition of the OQL Individual Championships (now known as “OQL Live VIII”).
IMPORTANT: Quizzers planning to attend must RSVP by MONDAY 23rd SEPTEMBER using this form: https://forms.gle/MzyctV7we7xcHvBu8 (Late registrations may also be accepted if space is available)
Full event details:
During the weekend, on Saturday we’ll be holding our Irish Interprovincials quiz tournament, an annual team competition first held in 2019. This day-long tournament pits Ulster vs Connacht vs Munster vs Leinster in a 4-way quiz showdown!
Entrants can compete for the province of their birth, the province where they live, or any province that they have a connection to.
Also on Saturday, we will be hosting the September edition of OQL Live VIII – a popular individual quiz set by the UK-based Online Quiz League. (Despite the name, this is being held in person though!)
Then on Sunday we’ll be hosting the 10th annual Irish Open, an individual quiz event that over the course of 240 questions seeks to find the best quizzer in Ireland!
We will then round off the weekend on Sunday afternoon with a fun team quiz and an individual buzzer quiz, both supplied by OQL.
All the events are open to everyone, whether newcomers or quiz veterans, and players are welcome to attend 1 day or both as they wish.
The entry fee will be as follows:
- One day only: €15 per person
- Both days: €25 per person

The venue is right in the heart of Dublin city centre, across the road from the Rotunda Hospital.
Dozens of bus routes stop on either the west or east side of Parnell Square. The Luas (Green Line) also passes nearby: both the Parnell and O’Connell Upper stops are approx 400 metres away.
For those driving, you can avail of on-street parking around Parnell Square and surrounding streets, however please be aware that parking charges apply from 7am-7pm Saturday (€4 per hour) and 2pm-6pm Sunday (€1.80 per hour). The nearest multi-storey car parks are at the Ilac Centre and Cineworld, both on Parnell Street.
Since we’re hosting the event in Dublin, there is no shortage of accommodation. Try searching on booking.com or airbnb.ie
International satellite venues:
We would be delighted if any quizzers from around the world would like to run a local satellite venue for the Irish Open on Sunday 29th – please let us know at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSds5e4J_2OxcJetVJjtPdpVvfEchTV5SLva6_7vB5AnfjAeEQ/viewform
The questions will be international in scope and NOT Irish-specific.
Note, only scores at our Irish venue in Dublin will count towards the official results, but we will post all international scores here on quizireland.ie.
