Happy New Year! We’re delighted to announce that the sixth season of Irish Quiz League, our popular Zoom-based online quiz tournament, will kick off in February 2026 and registration is now open for any teams or individuals who’d like to take part. New players are especially welcome! Here’s the essential info:
- The season begins on Monday February 9th
- Matches take place on Zoom an average of 2 Monday evenings per month between February and late June
- The entry fee for the season is €60 per team (If you sign up as an individual we’ll assign you to an available team and we’ll sort out payment via your captain)
- Register before Jan 31st at: https://forms.gle/Bd1Qz84rEmkxma1j8
If you’ve never played in IQL before, here are some extra details you should know:
- As mentioned above, matches take place on Zoom an average of 2 Monday evenings per month and last approximately 1 hour. The exact timing of each match can be agreed between opposing teams but most matches kick off in the 7.30pm – 9pm GMT window
- Although this is an Irish Quiz League, we do welcome players from anywhere in the world – bearing in mind that matches are usually played in a GMT evening time slot as above. Also, naturally there’s a portion of Irish-related questions, but this is usually kept to a maximum of 25%
- As with recent years, the IQL season will consist of two tournaments: the League and Cup. The exact schedule will depend on how many teams sign up, but we expect the League to run from February to May and the Cup thereafter until mid/late June. (Your registration fee covers entry to both tournaments)
- The registration fees also fund our prize pot, which each season usually averages around €1,000! For example, last year our League winners walked away with €300 cash and our Cup winners €150, with multiple runner-up prizes too
- To see how the gameplay works, take a look at one of our match recordings posted online, for example: https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1031071712357720
- To see some sample question sets, you can also browse our past season archives on this very website, for example the IQL season 5 page contains all of the questions from the 2025 league season. (Scroll down to see the question links near the bottom)
