June 2012: IQO created at Irish leg of the 2012 World Quizzing Championships , in Buccaneers Rugby Club, Athlone, on Saturday, June 2, 2012
March 2013: Ran first ‘Open’ event (Dublin Open)
May 2013: Sent teams to first Celtic Nations Quizzing Championship in Edinburgh
June 2013: IQO’s John O’Sullivan interviewed on RTE Radio 1 by Miriam O’Callaghan (see audio clip below)
June 2013: Hosted Irish leg of the 2013 World Quizzing Championships
October 2013: Ran first ‘Open’ outside Dublin, in Tullamore, Co. Offaly
November 2013: Sent teams to the European Quizzing Championships in Liverpool
February 2014: Ran charity table quiz, raising €1,300 for the Society of St Vincent de Paul
March 2014: Ran first Irish Open
April 2014: Hosted second annual Celtic Nations Quizzing Championship
November 2014: Sent team to the European Quizzing Championships in Bucharest
March 2015: Ran second Irish Open
April 2015 : Ireland finished second for first time at Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships
September 2015 : Launched the inaugural Dublin Quiz League
November 2015 : Finished fifth in the European Quizzing Championships in Rotterdam
April 2016 : Ireland won the Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships for the first time
April 2017 : Hosted Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships for the second time
September 2017: Irish Quiz Open won by Paul Sinha (the ‘Sinnerman’ from ITV’s The Chase)
October 2017 : Ran nationwide ‘Big Ireland Quiz’ in conjunction with Muscular Dystrophy Ireland
June 2018 : Hosted ‘The Big World Cup Quiz’ at the Aviva Stadium, in conjunction with Muscular Dystrophy Ireland
September 2018 : Ran Irish Open quiz, in Dublin and in 28 satellite locations around the world
November 2018 : At the European Quizzing Championships , Ireland’s best ever result in the Nations Cup (4th place), the Individual Quiz (Lorcan Duff in 4th place), and first Irish player on a winning Club Team (Mark Henry)
March 2019 : Ran our first Interprovincial Quiz Championship in Claremorris, County Mayo
November 2019: Launched Brain of Dublin , an individual quiz tournament to run alongside the Dublin Quiz League
December 2020 : Our Quarantine Quiz Packs raise over €1,400 for charity
August 2021 : Our Quarantine Quiz Packs pass the €2,500 mark in total funds raised for charity
October 2021 : Launched the Irish Quiz League , a new Zoom-based online quiz tournament
April 2022 : Hosted the Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships for the third time, and won the tournament for only the second time
September 2022 : Hosted the inaugural Irish Quizzing Championships in Boyle, Co. Roscommon, consisting of the Irish Open and the Interprovincial Championships together in one weekend
2022 onwards: Continued to host annual seasons of Dublin Quiz League (Autumn to Easter), Irish Quiz League (January to June) plus the annual Irish Quizzing Championships (last weekend in September)
April 2025: Hosted the Celtic Nations Quizzing Championships in Ashbourne, County Meath
